Landmark 53, and the first of the Scotish sites (but not the first I visited). The Mounthooly Doocot, near Peathill, Aberdeenshire.
Doocot is the Scots vernacular for Dovecote. It is not that people liked to keep pidgeons as pets in days gone by; they were kept as a ready source of fresh food in the winter.
