Landmark 25, Shenton, Leicestershire.
This simple stone marks the spot where King Richard III died in battle at Bosworth Field, the last British monarch to do so. There is usually some white roses on the stone in memory of this much maligned king. Remember, Shakespeare lived under the Tudor dynasty, and it was Elizabeth the firstīs father who was the victor at Bosworth, and it was good business to vilify the previous dynasty.
