Landmark 15, "The Old Transformers", Consett, Co Durham
The steelworks at Consett, County Durham, used to stretch for three miles. Having fallen victim to either market forces or political vandalism, depending on your point of view, now all that remains are poignant reminders of our industrial heritage such as these statues. Made from old electrical transformers once used in the production of steel, they now slowly rust into oblivion, like the industry they represent.
