A reconstruction of a Iceni village. On this occasion we did not have time to visit. The treatment given to some RBRers who like us stopped to photograph the gate means I will not be going back as planned. 31 Northamptonshire Landmark 31, Gretton, Northamptonshire.

Aydon Castle, with the lovely Sheila posing by the entrance gate. This years RBR made good use of my English Heritage and National Trust memberships. 33 Northumberland 2 1 Landmark 33. Lady´s Well, Holystone, Northumberland. 
A place of tranquil beauty, this holy well has been supplying water to the village from roman times up to the present day. One of my favourite places this year, and one of many I would never have seen without the RBR. 34 Nottinghamshire 2 Landmark 34. Newark Castle, Nottinghamshire. 

Newark Castle was founded in the 1130s by Bishop Alexander, of Lincoln, known as 35 Oxfordshire Landmark 35. Uffington in Oxfordshire. 

Tom Brown´s school. Well almost, this is the school attended by the author of Tom Brown?s schooldays, and was clearly the inspiration for the school depicted. 36 Shropshire 1 Landmark 36. Knockin, Shropshire. 

The humorously named Knockin Shop. The joke goes stale though, once you realise the town's name is pronounced 37 Shropshire 2 1 Landmark 37. Quatt, Shropshire.

A memorial to a war hero. Lt Thomas Orde Lawder Wilkinson VC.

This little packhorse bridge on Exmoor was once a major highway. How times have changed. 39 Staffordshire Landmark 39. Blore, Staffordshire, another one done on the 40 suffolk 1 Landmark 40. Halesworth, Suffolk. 

Another memorial to the loss of life in war. This one to some of the brave young Americans who came to Europe and laid their lives on the line for freedom. 

The plaque reads:

 THIS 8TH AIR FORCE GROUP WAS STATIONED HERE AT HALESWORTH AIR STATION 365 JULY 8, 1943 UNTIL APRIL 18, 1944. THE 56TH GROUP, KNOWN AS ZEMEKE'S WOLFPACK, ESTABLISHED A RECORD OF COMBAT PERFORMANCE UNEQUALED IN U.S. AIRFORCE FIGHTER HISTORY THIS MONUMENT IS DEDICATED TO THE PILOTS, THE GROUND FORCE OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE 56TH GROUP AND THE SUPPORTING UNITS OF THE 33RD SERVICE GROUP  41 Surrey Landmark 41. Merstham, Surrey.

These four bits of iron are a memorial to the worlds first public railway.  The Merstham Iron Railway. The actual rails are from a different line, but are the right type. So that´s OK then. 42 East Sussex Landmark 42, Friston, East Sussex.

Tapsel Gate. This type of  centre-pivoted gate was used widely in Sussex to stop cattle getting into the church-yards, the opening being too small for them.
This is one of a handful left. 43 West Sussex Landmark 43. Shoreham, West Sussex.

This propeller from a B-52 Marauder stands as a memorial outside the passenger terminal at Shoreham Airport. 44 Tyne and Wear Landmark 44, Ryhope, Tyne & Wear

More industrial heritage. This is the Ryhope pumping station, where steam0driven pumps used to maintain the water supply. The water supply is now electrically pumped, but the Victorian steam engines still work and are  run on Steaming Days during the summer.

Number 45 on the list of 90, but the second one I bagged. This is the remains of a wayside cross. 46 Wiltshire Landmark 46. Pewsey, Wiltshire.

A statue of King Arthur as a memorial to George V's coronation, the subject was chosen to illustrate Georges 47 Worcestershire 1 Number 47, Tardebigge, Worcestershire. 
A short-walk to this plaque commemorating the founding of the IWA, unless like me you go to the wrong bridge, thereby walking away from the plaque for two miles...... 48 East Yorks Landmark 48. Withernsea, East Riding of Yorkshire.

This lighthouse looks like it is in the middle of town. That is because it is. I bet the locals were happy when it was de-commissioned and they put out the lamp. 49 North Yorks 1 Landmark 49. Oliver´s Mount, Scarborough, North Yorkshire.

The Barry Sheene memorial. A great and down-to-earth man. My hero loved to race here, his bike usually occupying the spot where I parked mine; pole position. RIP Barry. 50 North Yorkshire 2 Landmark no 50. The Tan Hill Inn, Near Keld, North Yorkshire.
In fact it is near nowhere, reputed to be the highest in in Britain at 1732 ft above sea level. The welcome, beer and food were all warm, as they should be. 51 South Yorks Landmark 51, 52 West Yorkshire 1 Landmark 52, near Pool, West Yorkshire. 
Sinned? In need of a vicar? One of  a series of milestones in this area giving distances to local churches. Plenty to choose from it seems. 53 Aberdeenshire 1 Landmark 53, and the first of the Scotish sites (but not the first I visited). The Mounthooly Doocot, near Peathill, Aberdeenshire. 
Doocot is the Scots vernacular for Dovecote. It is not that people liked to keep pidgeons as pets in days gone by; they were kept as a ready source of fresh food in the winter. 54 Aberdeenshire 2 No 54, the Alford Valley Railway, Alford, Aberdeenshire.
This narrow guage railway one hauled freight as well as passengers. Now it is just a tourist attraction. 55 Angus 2 Landmark 55, Pictish Stone, Glamis, Angus.
This stone stands in what is believed to be its original position at Glamis, near to the church and well dedicated to St. Fergus. It is 2.7 metres tall and decorated on both sides with various symbols, some typically Pictish. It is particularly interesting because it has a spectacular Celtic cross on one side. All of the symbols can still be clearly seen. 56 Argyle and Bute 1 Landmark 56, Adrishaig, Argyle and Bute.
The is the Engine Shed of the miniature railway that runs down the quayside. The probelm is that I missed the fact that the clue said Engine shed AND signal box. 56 Argyle and Bute 2 So we had to retrace 50 miles the next day to get this shot. 57 South Ayrshire Landmark 57 Electric Brae Marker, South Ayrshire
The 58 Borders 1 Landmark 58, Coldstream, Borders. 
Coldstream has many interesting sites for the tourist and is a convienient stop-off to break the long journey north if visiting the Highlands. The RBR landmark was this 18th century dovecote. 59 Borders 2 1 Landmark 59 The Trimontium Stone, Borders
